USB SNES Controller

Friday, December 28th, 2012 at 5:36 pm

I purchased an SNES USB controller recently off eBay (around $10) for 2 reasons:
1. I can play SNES games on my emulator on my PC
2. I can play SNES games on my Samsung Galaxy SIII phone, as it has a microUSB port (so I need a microUSB to USB adapter).

Anyways, I got my USB controller last night and to my disappointment, it sucked. The buttons felt weird, the controller looked ugly, etc etc. See the pic below (the real controller is on the left)

I was disappointed. So I decided to transfer the circuit board on my USB SNES controller to the shell of my legit SNES controller.

It took me a few hours, some of the things didn’t line up well/properly. Had 2 break 2-3 plastic peices on my SNES controller to fit the USB circuit board. I had to use a mix of pieces from both controllers to make it work. But a few hours later, and I got it to work very well. :D

I need to buy another vintage SNES controller though. On the hunt for that right now.

It’s good though as the SNES controller I used for the USB thing already had a couple problems with it. But now it’s a USB SNES controller, which is cool.

That was a few of my hours last night…. :)
