A name for my camera

Friday, July 20th, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Googles “Fictional photographers”

There are the names I recognize

  • Crow
  • Alexandra DeWitt
  • Jade
  • Jimmy Olsen
  • Ben Reilly
  • Spider-Man
  • Donna Troy
  • Vicki Vale

Sorted by category and explained

DC

  • Alexandra DeWitt – ex-girlfriend of Kyle Rayner, Green Lantern. Killed by Major Force an controversially stuffed in a refrigerator
  • Jade – ex-girlfriend of Kyle Rayner, Green Lantern. Killed and then resurrected. Currently missing in The New 52!
  • Jimmy Olsen – Superman’s pal.
  • Donna Troy – ex-girlfriend of Kyle Rayner. Member of the original Teen Titans. Wonder Woman’s protege. Currently missing in The New 52!
  • Vicki Vale – some Batman character I don’t really know much about

WTF. How come there are so many ex-girlfriends of Kyle Rayner?!?!

Marvel

  • Ben Reilly – Peter Parker clone. Died fighting the Green Goblin.
  • Spider-Man – Peter Parker. Photographer for the Daily Bugle.

So. Of these lists, my favorite (female) character here is Donna Troy.
She was Kyle Rayner’s girlfriend when I first started reading Green Lantern. She’s also a great friend of Dick Grayon, Nightwing and Wally West, Flash. She’s gone by many names, Wonder Girl, Darkstar, Troia, Wonder Woman. I don’t really like the name Donna though…

Maybe I’ll call my camera Darkstar…(not confirmed).

Tomorrow, I’ll write my Niagara trip post!

Refocus

Tuesday, July 10th, 2012 at 4:29 pm

I’ve been pretty busy with life lately.
I’m not sure if it’s just super busy with life, cars, errands, or if it’s summer so I’m more social. I don’t know what it is.
.
.
.
But I don’t like it. I relish having a lot of time alone, hours to just work on my projects. And I haven’t gotten that lately. I barely have time to blog. I come home and I run errands and work on stuff until I sleep.

I need to slow down. I need…I want to go back to how my life was a few months ago.

This may sound weird and antisocial…but I want to sit at my desk more.
I want to go out less.
I want hours alone to work.
.
.
.
I think it’s been a long time since I took those hermit vacations, ones where I work really hard and don’t leave the condo for days. I think I need/want to take that again.

I want to see some real accomplishments in my life again. Conclusions to projects. I’m not feeling accomplishments in my daily life as much anymore. And I hate that.

I’m going to take some time and try to refocus on my use of time.

Ugh. Life’s been TOO busy

It’s 3am. I have to wake up somewhat early tomorrow cuz I’m going to Niagara Falls for the weekend.
But I wanted to blog…something.

I’m behind on my posts.
My Accomplishments post is 6 days late. By the time I get back, it’ll be 8-10 days late.
My WTB post is 5 days late. It’ll be 7-9 days late when I write it.

I got my new car last Friday, a week ago, and I’ve been spending a lot of my free time either practicing driving or running errands.
Dentist appointment, renewing and picking up passports, getting clothes dry cleaned, cleaning dead hamsters (Rachel) out of my hamster cage, watching Spider-Man (it was Amazing btw!), opening new toys, practicing driving, staying with my parents for 3 days, going to the Hyundai dealership to pick up a second set of keys, going to my parent’s house to install Microsoft Office, watching Brave, going to Afternoon Tea, a wedding, watching Hell’s Kitchen and MasterChef.

That’s just one week.

It’s 3am now.
I have to eat lunch around 12 or 1….I have to wake up tomorrow morning to clean my hamster cage, pack…so I’ll be waking up around 10? OMG.
I need to sleep. Gnite.

See you in 3 days :) I can’t wait to blog more…

NEW CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ….uhh..soon.

Z and I have been meaning to get a new car for a while now…
We I finally got off my ass and did some test driving last weekend.

We went to Honda, Mazda, and Hyundai.

We didn’t get to drive a Honda because, well, even though we were there for 25 minutes, NO ONE CAME AND TALKED TO US. UGH.

We went to Mazda after and test drove a Mazda 3 which was on our list of potential cars to get. It was awesome and honestly, we thought that it was the car to get. We were so impressed.

And then we went to Hyundai to test drive the Elantra and it was so much better.

They’re both comparable cars but the Elantra has more room in the front and back compared to the Mazda 3. The dashboard is a lot nicer/makes a lot more sense. There’s a sunglasses spot in a subtle, hidden area…which is perfect for me as I always have/wear sunglasses. The steering wheel on the Elantra has a larger turning radius, which is awesome. The Hyundai sales guy was pretty old, compared to the Mazda guy…but he was much more thorough, talked about safety and all the little features. He took us to a parking lot and we got out the car and he just talked. And it was awesome.

The only drawbacks of the Hyundai were it’s lack of fun/cool colors. But I kid you not, in 2 years, these babies will be everywhere. They’ll be the new Corolla/Civic.

Oh yeah, we’re also getting standard/manual transmission which I think is awesome. Neither of us know how to drive manual but we’re both willing and eager to learn. We each drove my brother’s manual Civic for about 30 minutes with minimal stalling (not our first time driving manual). I’m fairly sure I’d be able to get the Hyundai back home from the dealership if I had to, with only a few stalls.

So anyways, that was all last Saturday and Sunday.

We visited a few more dealerships today to get the best deals…but everything is pretty comparable. The Mazda has a $2000 cash incentive and a new graduate incentive…but Hyundai doesn’t have any of those for the Elantra. You know why? Cuz they’re just selling so damn well. They don’t need to promote anything! Good for them…”bad” for us…and also good for us :)

I hope we get it within the next 2 weeks :)

So anyways:

2013 Standard/Manual White Hyundai Elantra

We’re planning to put a 15k downpayment and 3 year purchase finance at 0.9%…which is ridiculously awesome :D

.

This is our practical, 10 year car. In a few years, when we need 2 cars and/or have a house, I’m going to buy/lease a nicer car. Mitsubishi Lancer? Subaru Impreza? Mazda 6? Something fun.

Anyways, really excited for it all!
