Sad, small, life updates

I’m still playing Tiny Tower. A lot.

At work, I’ve also re-started doing Sudokus. There’s this really fast girl at work, I want to improve and get closer in speed and skill. I’m so stupidly competitive.

We’ve been playing a card game at work called BANG! The object of the game is to bang people. Bang this girl. Bang that girl. Or someone bangs me. Okay, it’s not what it sounds like. It’s a western, with a sheriff, deputy, outlaw, and renegade. BANG means to shoot them. You do say in the game “I want to bang person x“. It makes it pretty funny. Anyways, it’s a fun game, we’re playing it every lunch lately :D

I spent last night putting some ASP.NET onto my warrenshea.com portfolio site. Ran into some problems, need to ask someone tomorrow.

This weekend is super busy for me. I’ve been working on a project to migrate one site to another server/hardware for the last year+. Since at least January 2011 last year. It was supposed to launch in Oct 31 originally…but got delayed and is now launching Feb 29ish, 4 months later. I have to work 9pm-3am Friday and 8am-3pm Saturday. Don’t they let people sleep anymore? Bonus is that I’ll get OT for it and while I’ll be busy, I predict much of that time will be sitting around playing Tiny Tower, and taking small naps whenever I need. Well, hopefully.

I know I haven’t blogged much this month. It’s honestly not my priority lately…while I have things to say, life is generally going fairly well lately. I’m not hating or deep thinking like usual. Just kinda…existing. Man, that sounds sad. I can’t wait to go back to hating life again. Things are more interesting that way.

warrenshea.com’s Portfolio – it better be worth it

…I know it’s not.

The point of the portfolio is to show potential employers my work. But there’s a lot about my portfolio site about me already. How much work do they need to see? Do they need to see any?

I spent hours this weekend rummaging all my old work files. 5 years of work files…figuring out what I can put up, what I can’t…looking back at old, bad code…I dunno.

I just wanna have my site done. But I don’t want to have it incomplete. And right now, I’m just trying to complete it. It just happens to be taking FOREVER.

Anyways.

Just a side rant…as I play Tiny Tower.

I just want warrenshea.com to be done already :( I want to move on to my next project. Like. Now.

Adobe Premiere and video editing

That’s why I’m up. I’m waiting for a video to encode. Damn. Even a short 1-3 minute video takes like, 30m to encode. I’ve been encoding for hours this weekend.

Anyways, Gundam Seed has been on my mind lately. Thinking of trying to get this co-worker friend to watch it. She’s a girl’s girl but she liked Naruto back in the day, loved Kakashi…but has sworn off anime since then cuz ‘it never ends’. Well, if she’s referring to Naruto, I don’t blame her (though I still enjoy it). I’ve also been watching anime intros and outros at work lately as I’m sick of my youtube music playlist and I always tend to go back to my anime music once in a while. Anyways, it got me thinking that

a) The Gundam Seed Intros/Outros I playlisted on YouTube were removed :( I don’t wanna look for them agaaaain. (They seem to be removed rather quickly).
b) I don’t have any Gundam Seed Intros/Outros on my iPhone. Why? Honestly, I don’t remember.
c) I have Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny DVDs (legit ones, purchased off eBay).
d) I could rip textless intros/outros of Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny and throw them on my iPhone.

Anyways, following that logic, on a whim, I started this weekend doing the above. And…well, it’s taken me a while to get used to Adobe Premiere. I DO only use it like, once every 2 years, if I’m lucky (no, seriously). But I can do the basics with it such as putting video and audio into it, or mixing audio, or messing with audio volume or fading the music in and out. Anyways. It started out with just a few intros and outros. 7 total for Gundam Seed. But then. I thought “Why not more”. This is the list of anime intros/outros I’ve done this weekend…effectively using up 2/3 of my days.

I made the word Midtro up….also, there’s a specific reason why I don’t use the words
Opening and Ending
that most people use when describing an anime’s opening and ending. It’s cuz I like to order my files alphabetically so if I have something like
Gundam Seed Ending 1
Gundam Seed Opening 1
it bothers me that Ending is before Opening (and often plays before Opening). So I use Intro/Outro to remedy that problem. I don’t know where I got it from, but I like it.

ANYWAYS.
Tomorrow I have 4 Prince of Tennis OVA Intros and Outros (8 total) to do for the Prince of Tennis Nationals tournament. After that, I’m done.

Going back to warrenshea.com which I honestly haven’t touched since Feb 2 (or earlier). I remember cuz I went Karaoke that night, and then have been playing Tiny Tower the other nights.

Oh yeah, there’s something I wanna do on worldofwarren.com first so I think I’ll do that tomorrow.

One more blog post tonight. Have to catch up (my number of posts is shockingly low this month).

Why?

My life revolves around this.

Why is something the way it is. I love to figure out the why.

I didn’t apply this question to math, figuring why a formula or theorem was true (other than the quadratic formula…but that was easy). minus b plus minus root b squared minus four a c over 2a DUH!

I apply this to people. Why is someone like this.
I love to analyze people. But I’m pretty awkward with them. Maybe that’s where my fascination comes from.

I love to take gadgets apart and figure out why something is like this.
But I find reading and researching that same information incredibly boring and difficult to retain. Where’s the fun if all the information is just presented to you.

I think one of my greatest strengths is figuring out the why of someone, why someone might do something or why someone acted some way. But I’m somewhat oblivious to noticing very apparent things….because without the question of “why?”, something doesn’t matter to me.

I don’t know how to explain it. I swear this post sounded so good in my head as I started to write, but as it’s 2:30am now, and I’m mentally exhausted….I guess I’ll stop.

I just wanted to write that the most important and influential question to me is “Why?”. I guess I figured it out when I asked myself “Why am I like this?”. But then there’s this circular, inception type logic that is BLOWING MY MIND RIGHT NOW.

Connect 4 Tournament

Alas, I did not with my 32-person Connect 4 Tournament :( 2nd place….boourns.

The 6 games went down like this:
Warren, Ackley, Ackley, Warren, Draw, Ackley
A draw in Connect 4 is somewhat rare, especially if two people are fairly skilled and try to trap each other.

Next tournament, I shall not attempt to win…because I had to deal with a lot of unwanted attention….i hate attention focused around me…*cringe* and *sigh*
