How to Train Your Dragon – Review

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010 at 2:56 am

I’ve seen this movie 3 times, once in theaters in 3D and twice on my newly purchased blu-ray. I watched it yesterday once…and I couldn’t get the music out of my head all day today (well, I was listening to the soundtrack at work all day) so I decided to watch it again.

I gotta say, I really love this movie.

I love the plot, the cute dragons (this movie kinda reminds me of an Ash/Pikachu combo), but I really love the music. It fits the movie so well…I liked these songs (below), and put them on the site if for no one’s benefit but my own (as I know I’m going to be listening to this @ work tomorrow). I suggest you give them a try, it takes a bit sometimes for the song to pick up…it’s also probably better if you’ve seen the movie first…

Forbidden Friendship

Test Drive

Romantic Flight

Coming Back Around

When I go over good movies, I basically rate them on what they did wrong over what they did right. I mean, if it’s a great movie but I didn’t like one thing or there was a plot hole, I’d detract from my overall score…but I can’t find anything wrong with this movie…
I’ve only seen Toy Story 3 once in theatres and a couple of times elsewhere but I can’t really find a flaw in that movie. It’s especially emotionally overwhelming at some points which knock it up a few notches.

While How to Train Your Dragon doesn’t have “emotionally overwhelming” points, there are some really emotional, awesome moments…and if you know me, I love movies that can affect you.

Better icons soon…it’s just so late and they didn’t come out as I planned (they’re more fugly than I thought they’d be).
