Notes
Man, I got so much done this month and it’s only 2 weeks in! But I was also on vacation for a week…
I was able to go through all 22 VHS tapes from my past, digitally recording stuff I want to keep.
I was also able to do a crazy number of image rotators. Now that I’ve decided to do the shots during the night (as well as the day), I can do tons. 11/37 done so far.
Also watched quite a few movies…The Prestige was by far the best on the list above. A Christopher Nolan film! Definitely one of my favs…

That’s it…still keeping busy!

Secret Project KB Update

Sunday, October 14th, 2012 at 12:26 am

I spent a good chunk of the last 2 weeks redesigning and developing…

I have a renewed interested in my Secret Project KB site and I’ve found a way to possibly do my photography during the night, which was previously impossible. I don’t get the exact lighting I’d like…it’s possible I’ll just do night photography and slowly replace images with cloudless sky photography, when I get the chance.

I also added different sharing social media plugins.

It’s pretty close to being “released”. Actually, it’s kinda already released, I took the “Coming Soon” from the default page out…but there’s a little warning at the top saying it’s incomplete.

Anyways, I’m going to keep working on it, whilst converting VHS tapes. Only a few more to go!

That’s it for now. I’m slowly closing off my “TO DO” list from ages ago (I’m talking, 2-5 years of TO DO stuff).
It feels great :)

That’s it for now, off to do more work :D

Werk werk

Thursday, October 11th, 2012 at 12:00 am

Comes back from vacation. Gets pulled into a high priority task….so been working lots lately. And on-call all hours I’m not actually working.
I went to work at 8am today! 8am! That’s crazy for me! :P

Ah well, as long as I’m compensated ;)

Um. Trying to finish capturing my VHS tapes.
I have a whole VHS tape dedicated to ReBoot S3 and 2 whole VHS tapes on Pokemon, first season…so I actually went through/watched all of that…

Went to Guu after work today for a snack. Got 4 dishes. Total of the bill was $61 :( To be fair, one dish was 7 kinds of sashimi for $30. Got some good salmon, scallop, shrimp, tuna, and lobster sashimi :) Lobster sashimi is awesome!

……
and then went to the new Popeye’s that opened in the annex beside Guu >_< Anyways, that’s it for me for now. I need someone to redesign one of my sites. I can’t do it, I suck. Now…who can I find that wants to work for free :)

5am…

Friday, October 5th, 2012 at 5:03 am

I went this whole week without screwing up my sleep schedule.

I’d sleep at 4am and naturally wake up around 12. And not sleep the rest of the day. Not bad.
Last night I slept at 4am and woke up at 9:30am this morning. Couldn’t fall back asleep and dev’d til 1-ish…then took a nap til 2:30pm.

It’s 5am now…and I’ve done so much deving in the last 2.5 days…I’m really proud of myself. Definitely did a lot this week and I’ll soon reveal the work I’ve done.
I wanted to do a lot more dev by Tuesday next week but it doesn’t look like I’ll have the time to.
I have 2 thanksgivings dinners, 1 lunch, 1 wedding…within the next 3 days. So it’s pretty busy.

Mental notes for me for tomorrow:

  • Newest to Oldest
  • Print functionality and CSS
  • Contact right information
  • Loading image on gallery and Checklist

All of these things should be relatively easy…so maybe I can finish after all. We’ll see!

Also: I made shake and bake chicken for dinner tonight and it was SO GOOD. WAY BETTER THAN I REMEMBER. So….yeah, I have a new, easy go-to!

Phone upgrade!

Thursday, October 4th, 2012 at 1:59 am

I was all excited to get the iPhone 5 but after the release notes/specs, I was underwhelmed.
It’s technically still below the Samsung Galaxy SIII. I was saying that the only reason I’d still get the iPhone 5, despite it being a worse phone, is the iCommunity. Everyone I know is on the iPhone so it’s nice having that community to share/connect with. That said, I now see and realize people’s blind iPhone devotion (of which I was completely guilty of as well). I notice that some people are looking at the facts and jumping off the iPhone ship. Myself included.

So, I just ordered a Samsung Galaxy SIII today. Upgrading from a pretty old Apple 3GS.

Below describes my day (it’s just copied from an email to my parents, of who I upgraded their non-smart phone to an iPhone 4S – and I see the irony of my Apple rant and then go out and buy a 4S…but realize my parents have an iPad and they’re comfortable/familiar with iOS…so that’s why).

I spent this afternoon researching Wind and talking to Bell and Telus for rates. Telus had a good rate/plan and I was going to go with them unless Rogers made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. They did.
I had to basically try to cancel my service to get Rogers to send me to their Retention Department, where they can make all the deals/sales that the Sales Department can’t make to new customers.

Below is the comparison for Regular Cost VS “I’m going to cancel” Cost

I was able to save $110 on the cost of upgrading the 2 phones and $20/month for the plan.
