Life + Secret Project KB Updates

Sunday, June 24th, 2012 at 11:18 pm

My life’s been busy the last few day and will continue to be busy for another few weeks. I can’t write about why, unfortunately. Maybe in a few weeks, I’ll let you guys and girls know what’s up.

My Secret Project KB has been progressing well though I haven’t been able to work on it nearly as much as I would have liked.

I did hit my first milestone: 45 retroactive blog posts. Retroactive because I’m way behind in releasing the site and I want users that go to it to think I’ve been around a while :)
This is only about 1/4 of the site’s content.

Next is to build pages on 42 products.
And build 4 other pages after that.

It’s going to be time consuming but I know what I have to do…it shouldn’t be that hard. And it should be fun! :D

Anyways, I’m just blogging because I’m procrastinating something else, more important. Sigh.

Back to studying…(yes, studying!)

NEW CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ….uhh..soon.

Thursday, June 21st, 2012 at 12:50 am

Z and I have been meaning to get a new car for a while now…
We I finally got off my ass and did some test driving last weekend.

We went to Honda, Mazda, and Hyundai.

We didn’t get to drive a Honda because, well, even though we were there for 25 minutes, NO ONE CAME AND TALKED TO US. UGH.

We went to Mazda after and test drove a Mazda 3 which was on our list of potential cars to get. It was awesome and honestly, we thought that it was the car to get. We were so impressed.

And then we went to Hyundai to test drive the Elantra and it was so much better.

They’re both comparable cars but the Elantra has more room in the front and back compared to the Mazda 3. The dashboard is a lot nicer/makes a lot more sense. There’s a sunglasses spot in a subtle, hidden area…which is perfect for me as I always have/wear sunglasses. The steering wheel on the Elantra has a larger turning radius, which is awesome. The Hyundai sales guy was pretty old, compared to the Mazda guy…but he was much more thorough, talked about safety and all the little features. He took us to a parking lot and we got out the car and he just talked. And it was awesome.

The only drawbacks of the Hyundai were it’s lack of fun/cool colors. But I kid you not, in 2 years, these babies will be everywhere. They’ll be the new Corolla/Civic.

Oh yeah, we’re also getting standard/manual transmission which I think is awesome. Neither of us know how to drive manual but we’re both willing and eager to learn. We each drove my brother’s manual Civic for about 30 minutes with minimal stalling (not our first time driving manual). I’m fairly sure I’d be able to get the Hyundai back home from the dealership if I had to, with only a few stalls.

So anyways, that was all last Saturday and Sunday.

We visited a few more dealerships today to get the best deals…but everything is pretty comparable. The Mazda has a $2000 cash incentive and a new graduate incentive…but Hyundai doesn’t have any of those for the Elantra. You know why? Cuz they’re just selling so damn well. They don’t need to promote anything! Good for them…”bad” for us…and also good for us :)

I hope we get it within the next 2 weeks :)

So anyways:

2013 Standard/Manual White Hyundai Elantra

We’re planning to put a 15k downpayment and 3 year purchase finance at 0.9%…which is ridiculously awesome :D

This is our practical, 10 year car. In a few years, when we need 2 cars and/or have a house, I’m going to buy/lease a nicer car. Mitsubishi Lancer? Subaru Impreza? Mazda 6? Something fun.

Anyways, really excited for it all!

A busy day for warrenshea…that rhymes…

Came home today and worked all night making my PDF resume.

I had finished my site (4?) weeks ago now, but never finished my PDF resume.
“With all the content done, I can make my resume whenever I want” I thought.

Well…it was true. I’ve been working for like, 6 hours but it’s done.

Warren Shea Resume

It’s funny how many mistakes I noticed on when making this thing, despite proof-reading the site 10 times.

I also did a slight text removal in the experience section as per one of my friend’s recommendations. The experience is now…5-10% shorter. 20% shorter on the actual resume. Not that much of a reduction, but an improvement overall.

Car – Z and I have finally decided: Standard/Manual 2012 White Hyundai Elantra! We’re hoping to get this within the next 2 weeks :D Z and I both drove manual for 15 minutes or so and only stalled a couple of times. I think we’re both pretty confident we can start driving this asap.

I spent the beginning of this month working on Secret Project KB but the last week, I haven’t worked on it much. Stupid Diablo 3, among other things, like work.
I’ve been out a lot in the last week, social gatherings every day or two…
I need to regroup and start blogging again, as well as working on my Secret Project KB.

The last few weeks have been busy…

I can’t believe it’s “only” been 3 weeks since I released

I’ve been working hard on my Secret Project KB almost immediately after but there’s still a long way to go. This site, like, is mostly content based so I can see things taking a long time. There is a blog portion and within the last 21 days, I’ve written 28 short posts, as well as deved the shell of the site. There’s still quite a bit that needs to be done.

I know I haven’t been blogging much but I assure you guys that I’m still working hard. And to be honest, that’s what really matters for me. It feels absolutely great working on a new project and I can’t wait til this is done and I can start another side project or my epic project.

On another note: That Zelda Symphony I’m going to in Sept is coming up pretty quick and I realize I haven’t been playing and beating Zelda: Majora’s Mask or Zelda: Twilight Princess like I wanted to. I’ve been thinking I should prioritize those games over my projects…but I really don’t want to do that >_< . . . It's been 2.5 years since I stopped playing World of Warcraft. I feel like I've done so much in that time. I've really looked hard at the people around me and who I want to surround myself with and why. I've discovered so much about life, constantly thinking about where I'm headed and how I want to get there. There are so many people that are still lost in life. Don't know what to do professionally. Aren't good at their jobs. Don't know what to do with their life. And while I might not be certain of my path, I know that right now, I'm headed in the right direction. Despite all my talk about job and career, I don't believe I'm professionally ambitious. I'm not working for the money, I'm working for the experience. For the love of this hobby/profession. Not very many people can do that. I feel very fortunate that since World of Warcraft, I've been able to dedicate myself to what I believe is a future worth having. All the time spent both free and during work, done with love and passion...for a goal that has no end. You spend 8+ hours a day working. How can you waste that much of your life doing something you don't love? I think the theme of my life the last 2 years has been improvement and motivation. Those 2 things have been the driving force in my life. Well, I think improvement is always something that’s part of everyone’s life but I’ve really been paying attention to those 2 things. And the people that help me achieve them.

Sorry, I know this post is all over the place. Many topics. I’m just writing some things that have been on my mind lately.
