Canada’s Largest Pokemon Event

Sunday, October 13th, 2013 at 2:32 am

Decided to head to Habourfront Centre this last Friday for Canada’s Largest Pokemon Event, an event to celebrate the release of Pokemon X and Y.

Picture from Nintendo Canada. I’m in there but can’t find myself. Too bad there isn’t a higher quality picture.

Picture from Nintendo Canada. The line is near the entrance and probably taken early into the event. I’m definitely near the end of the line here (and not in the shot) because when I was within line of sight of this shot, the line behind me didn’t go that far.

My pokemon loots – early birds could pick either a Pokeball DS Game case (that holds 3 games) or a cardboard hat. I’m happy I picked the pokeball because I was able to score the hats at the end, when the pokeballs were out and there were still tons of hats remaining.

The rest are just pictures, from my seat.

While Oct 11, 2013 at 6PM marked the release of the game, I won’t be purchasing them until Oct 21. This is when I go to the US again and can buy the non-french version games. Better packaging :)
Just have to wait 8 or so more days!

Pokemon X and Y

Friday, October 11th, 2013 at 12:28 am

I haven’t been a pokemon fan for years – I’ve only played (and beat) Red, Blue, Yellow (and maybe Green). I never played any of the others. My knowledge is limited to 151 pokemon, missingno, togepi, and pichu.

I wasn’t planning on getting Pokemon X and Y. But I realize….if I have a 3DS and Z has a 3DS. Now I can actually have 2 games, and trade! (So different from when I played the games on emulator – and couldn’t).

But also – my nephew, 7, just got a 3DS XL a month or two ago. I’ve actually played (and destroyed) him in 3DS Star Fox Battle Mode. TAKE THAT SEVEN YEAR OLD. IN YO FACE. But anyways, my nephew’s a pokemon fan – has trading cards but no one to play with.

I was thinking…I might get him a Pokemon game. We can play together! Despite his free time, I’ll probably be able to beat the game before him (I’m slightly more intelligent). And then I can help him out! Right now, I’m that cool uncle for him. I watch Ninja Turtles and build lego with him and play 3DS with him. I think that’ll last until he’s 12. Then, depending on what type of teenager he becomes, I may continue to be the cool uncle or the crazy old embarrassing uncle. “You’re 36 and you still watch cartoons? LOS3R!” (that’s future slang). 5 more years til that tho….

Nintendo’s holding a “Canada’s largest pokemon gathering” tomorrow and I plan to go. The pikachu shirt I purchased a while back has been property of my girlfriend for the few years or so. Pikachu looks obese when I wear the shirt Q_Q. I have no other pokemon shirt but I’ll likely wear either my Zelda shirt (to support Nintendo) or my Kirby shirt (also to support Nintendo, but also – maybe I can trick people into thinking it’s jigglypuff). Oh yeah, people that dress up can get a Pokeball Game Case. That’s why I’d wear pokemon clothes…

LOL I was just thinking about when I was watching MasterChef Season 4 recently. Z asked me who I wanted in the finals and I said
“Hmm…Jesse….James….TEAM ROCKET!”

….nevermind, guess you had to be there :(

When I dream, it may as well be real

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 at 12:31 am

I’ve spoken to some people to say ‘they can control the dream’. While I’ve found it to rarely occur, in most cases I’m just along for the subconscious (or is it unconscious?) ride.

I would say that I dream a lot (but that’s hard to back up) – but whenever I dream, I’m pretty much along for whatever dream my mind is creating.
Isn’t it odd that you can doze off momentarily, dream for a few seconds, and within those few seconds, feel like you’re in another world or another you?

I could be in bed one moment and a moment later, travel along the ocean in a floating car. And in no point in my dream do I think ‘hey, I was just on the bed; this isn’t real’. No, my dream mind is thinking ‘Where’s land? My floating car needs turnip juice for fuel and the only way to get it is from those cyborg gorillas in dresses’. No, at no point do I consider such a dream absurd.

…but why not?

What is it that chemically? neurologically? electric impulsey? happens in the mind that causes this? Or do dreams and rational thought or memory exist on different ‘lobes’ (not sure if I’m using this term correctly) and because they don’t ‘talk’, I don’t get logic in dreams. But the memory definitely has to exist as dreams are often filled with people you know or places you know. If so, why isn’t, say, the memory of me lying down on the bed 5 minutes ago come up? Or at least, the logic?

Ugh, I feel like I definitely did NOT do my research prior to writing this post. I tried googling but I come up with crap. Apparently ‘understanding your dreams’ can be posted about for pages. But the actual ‘understanding your dreams from a neurological perspective’ isn’t as easy to find. What, no brain surgeons doing blogging?

That’s it! I’m done for now! Time to go do something I do frequently every day but have no understand of how it’s being accomplished. Kinda like my day job lolol!

Grand Theft Auto 5

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013 at 7:56 pm

Had this game for about a week. Was playing it like crazy the first few nights I got it and here and there since then. I’m only 12% into the story mode. I spend most of my time f*cking sh!t up. Stealing cars, evading cops, stealing planes, etc. Today, for the first time, I stole a tank and fighter jet. I had to use a cheat tho :( But I really wanted to fly that fighter jet. It’s pretty crazy, shooting missiles and guns…like Top Gun! ‘You can be my wingman anytime!’

I got super dizzy and nauseous flying the planes around…I was playing that game 2 hours ago and I still feel like puking. I think I’m done GTA5 for a bit. I’ll try to stick to missions from now on as to stop wasting time just d*ckin around.

Lookit all the profanity in this post! Must be GTA5, rubbing off on me.

Wii U – Zelda: Wind Waker HD!

Monday, September 23rd, 2013 at 1:34 am

Got my Wii U – Zelda: Wind Waker HD Bundle. Playing Super Mario Bros. Wii U on it at the moment. It’s pretty fun, playing the support character :)

I think I wanna buy GTA V though because…that just seems like it’d be a lot of fun :)

Sorry for the smudge prints and distorted thumb – that controller’s pretty heavy for one hand and I had to grip it rather tightly.

Look how nice that Zelda logo looks!

With Wind Waker, I can now start my whole Wind Waker + Phantom Hourglass + Spirit Tracks saga.
Though I’ll have a Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in November…
And I still have to play/beat Majora’s Mask and Twilight Princess. So basically, I’ve missed a lot of games.

The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
A Link to the Past
Link’s Awakening
Ocarina of Time
Majora’s Mask
Oracle of Ages & Oracle of Seasons
The Wind Waker
Four Swords
Four Swords Adventures
The Minish Cap
Twilight Princess
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Skyward Sword

.
.
.

But if you take out the Game Boy games, it’s
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
A Link to the Past
Ocarina of Time
Majora’s Mask
The Wind Waker
Twilight Princess
Phantom Hourglass
Spirit Tracks
Skyward Sword

I think I’ll try Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on my 3DS (with some helpful STATE (Save/load) playing – cuz that game is hard).
And I’ll play Wind Waker when it comes out so that afterwards, I can continue with my 3DS/DS games. And then, y’know, Major’s Mask and Twilight Princess afterwards. So many games. So little time.
