Chrome and other web browsers

Thursday, June 10th, 2010 at 10:28 pm

Z has been trying to make me switch to Chrome…I have to admit that it’s simple and fast…but not rendering my site as well as I’d like.

I started doing Acid3 Tests (http://acid3.acidtests.org/) at work, on my work browsers including:

Firefox 3.6.3: 94/100
Safari 3.2.3: 75/100
Opera 10.01: 100/100
Internet Explorer 8.0.6001.18702: 13/100….before crashing my IE >_< Stupid IE Chrome 5.0.375.70: 100/100 I DO notice Firefox is pretty slow in general...but I love/need it for: FireFTP FireBug (because developing on IE8 and using the IE Developer Tool sucks) I'm pretty surprised/impressed that Chrome and Opera are both 100/100. Firefox comes close and IE...IE is terribad as always. I DO use a tab on IE for listening to the radio as well as watch youtube videos. Firefox always just seems to lag the videos if I have too many tabs open or if the program has been open too long. I guess it needs to do a memory dump.

Maybe…I’ll use Firefox for FireFTP and FireBug and use Chrome to browse…I don’t know.

On my site TO DO list: Cross browser testing. So boring, bah!

Site Updates

1. I modified the Gallery page a bit. I didn’t really like how the icons were just…placed, without any description of what album you were clicking on. I’ve modified it a bit to include some album information. I also categorized the albums/galleries….there’s not much point to the right hand column anymore…but I’m not sure what else to put there.

2. If you look at the navigation, you’ll see the Portfolio section is no longer Portfolio. That’s right, the final section to my site is complete: Portfolio.

3. I want to start finishing off that Language Reference section…as well as finalizing and reviewing everything and adding a few more pieces of information here and there. Also, I want to start working on some more themes…Naruto, Professional 1, Professional 2.

4. I’m going to try to do my new layouts as well as start learning jQuery more and…of course, ASP.NET. Really, I need something to build with my .NET knowledge, I’m having trouble thinking of something worthy of the language. This site for example is perfect for PHP…and while I could have used ASP.NET, I doubt I’d be able to use the controls, AJAX, database, etc. components very well. Everything on this site is fairly simple, there’s nothing I really need high level coding for.

5. Converted my resume to HTML

I resubscribed to World of Warcraft…

Nah, I’m just joking!

I quit on January 7 and it’s June 7 right now, 6 months later.

It’s weird, when I quit, my guild was running through ICC25 (Icecrown Citadel) to defeat the Lich King. 6 months later (6 months!!) and that guild is finally killing the Lich King.

Anyways, I’m still free of the addiction. I’m blogging, updating my site, playing around with photography, catching up on True Blood (beginning S2). I’m considering using my upcoming vacation time to do some learning…I still need to find a topic that I can build a site for…what do I build this EPIC SITE on? I still don’t know…

I can’t climb any higher…

…from where I am now. Kinda bummed…I hadn’t really felt the disappointment from news last week until today. Today, I was told of all the things I should have/could have been working on in the future. And I really wanted to be a part of it. And I’m not.

I’m really unhappy. I feel like Rock Lee when…

Just like Rock Lee, I feel like I’m watching others around me progress and I feel trapped in a cage…unable to take steps forward, unable to walk the same path. I mean, I’m 100% sure I’ll catch up…in a year or two. But I’m going to miss the awesome part of the journey for that year or two while I’m stuck in my cage. Sigh.

Maybe I should try climbing another mountain, somewhere else…sigh. This feeling fucking sucks ass. I just wanna crawl into a hole and die.

/wrists. Seriously.

Batgirl – Ame comi

$60 – Yikes…this was pricey but pretty damn worth it. This Batgirl is fracking awesome.

Illidan

$30 – Great price for this epic toy. The detail on Illidan is crazy high, higher than any toy I have…

Wonder Girl: Donny Troy

$30 – This wasn’t on my list…but I had considered getting it a couple of years ago. When I opened the package at the store, I was disappointed in it and decided not to get it. After buying this, I feel the same way. It’s nice, the image on the box is nice, but the actual item isn’t as great I thought it’d be. Ah well….

Batgirl – Marcus To

$20 – Great sketch

+ $25 – 2 TPBs: All-Star Superman Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 – The best Superman stories I’ve ever read
+ $25 – Francis Manapul Sketchbook
+ $30 – 4 prints from Marcio Takara
+ $20 – admission
