Great day – Formal day-before-wedding party!

Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at 3:40 am

Let’s start the day off.

Went to work at 9:30am. I had a previously scheduled appointment for 3pm today….so I was only in part of the day. But my boss wasn’t in today. So at 12, I went out to lunch with my usual crew + more. About 15 people in total. Very awesome because Z took today off so she was able to eat lunch with us. At 2, (2 hour lunch!), Z and I left for our appointment. Spoiler alert, we had facial appointment :P Microdermabrasion. The suction out your pores and remove the dirt and oil and stuff…and then they close the pores. Anyways, when we were done, we decided to go to Eaton Centre to look for a dress for tomorrow. By we, I mean Z. I went to Indigo and was looking at Manga, Video Game Guides, and Graphic Novels. At 4pm….we found out about a formal dinner…for 7pm that day O_O. In 3 hours!? And we were downtown, unprepared, unformally dressed….crazy! We went home, got home around 5:15….got ready until 6:15 and then went to a banquet ball for the party. Funny thing is that even though we got there are for 7pm….the bride didn’t really come in til 9pm. So we kinda just…chilled for 2 hours! All that rush for nothing. 9-12 was basically eating and drinking. I was going to drive, I only had 1 beer tonight until like 12, when the bride’s dad started to make people drink. So I took a shot. But since I took that one shot, there was no way I was driving home. So in the next 10 minutes, I had 3 more shots :) Didn’t affect me quite as much as I would have liked. 3 shots of tequila, 1 shot of vodka. The Shot Theory is really working out well!

Stupid me, there was one point where the bride asked me to dance in the middle of the floor and I declined. But you never decline the bride…(tho technically her wedding day is tomorrow). I had spent much of the night making other people do what the bride wanted but when it came to me, I wussed out. Weak. And VERY bad.
But….luckily, before the night was over, I redeemed myself when she asked me to go dance in the center of the stage with her…and I did :) I’m very glad I did because if I didn’t, that would have plagued my life. I tend to dwell on stuff like that.

I went to sleep around 2am, after my internet died in the middle of writing my blog post. I think I slept for about 30 minutes before…waking up! And then I came out to blog more. Weird how I didn’t just, yknow, sleep through the night. (And note: I didn’t wake up to puke). Ugh, I can still taste the tequila in my mouth. I like vodka more.

Anyways, I should sleep now…3:30am :/ Need to wake up at 11am tomorrow for lunch, ceremony at 2:30pm, break and then reception at 7:00pm. Another long day tomorrow. But I absolutely had a blast tonight :) Totally love (as a friend) the bride and I had so much fun at my first muslim wedding….the music is….different :) but I’ve been educated!

Also, I’m a super happy drunk. Alcohol really brings down my generally high walls, it brings down my inhibitions, it lets me be free. And I love it. As long as people are there to keep in me check from doing something too bad…I’m good. Though to be honest, I’ve never been super smashed ever. No drunken puke yet. No memory lapses. No passing out. Even when I try to get smashed and push my limits, it seems that those limits have not been yet. My power is OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [Dragonball joke]

Okay. Time for bed :) Did not proofread….will proofread tomorrow :D

My 2 most favoritist anime intros

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011 at 11:39 am

I caught up on House a couple days ago…rewatched all 7 seasons. I’m not doing that again…it was fun the first time. Tedious the second. And I won’t rewatch it ever again. That’s not to say I won’t watch some episodes…but yeah, House isn’t something you re-watch.

Since I caught up on House, I’ve been watching some anime….Gundam Seed Character Theater, which I apparently missed for years. And that led me to start listening to anime music again. I haven’t been lately…I’ve been doing radio and pop music. As I went through my anime intro list…these two songs still resonate with me as the ones I can never get tired of. I love Gundam Seed Destiny Opening 1, and other Gundam Seed Intros…I like some Naruto ones…but these two just hold a special spot on my list. I get this…intense feeling of incoming epicness when I listen to Clannad and I get a tranquil feeling of serenity when I listen to Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu?. Anyways, just thought I’d re-post so I can listen to them easier at work :)

Watching Sports + warrenshea.com Updates

Monday, June 6th, 2011 at 11:53 pm

I’ve been meaning to get into [read: watch] some kind of sports for years. It’s tough, I’m so out of it.

I wouldn’t mind getting into either:
Hockey
Basketball
Tennis
Football

As far as sports go, I’m actually interested in watching those (above) and probably not in any other. I have fun watching them, despite not knowing much.

This wouldn’t be the reason why I want to watch sports but sometimes…it’s just nice to be able to converse on a different topic than what I regularly talk about. I have TV shows, movies, anime, video games, comics, toys, electronics, web development. Those are my easy topics. I have topics I generally avoid, religion or politics. And somewhere in between that would be food, photography and sports.

Even when I watch games, I don’t know who’s playing. I see a good dunk, a great goal, a smart play, a nice break….I see physical feats and interesting circumstances that lead to a goal/score/point/whatever but….it’s hard to really talk about it w/o knowing more.

Next season, hopefully I can get more interested….start getting into something else. Open up a new world of knowledge and interest. I’m getting bored with what I currently know. I’m tired of being left out in conversations that I’m interested in, but just so lost that I can’t keep up with the conversation. It’s not a feeling of stupidity, more a feeling of lack of knowledge. I don’t like it at all.

Kind of weird combination of posts..but as I was watching hockey tonight (Stanley Cup Finals Game 3), I was also working on my warrenshea.com design. I’ve been super frustrated lately with what I’ve done but I finally feel like I’m coming up with a winning conceptual design. In my previous design, I really just found something interesting and started to dev right away. Mistake. I should have spent more time on conceptual design…because what I had ended up as a design failure. I’m finally doing something I’m satisfied with. More ME. I’ve been avoiding doing work because of my mental block but now that I’m enthusiastic about my work again, hopefully I can make some real progress!

/back to work

FanExNO?

Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at 2:01 am

See what I did there? Instead of writing FanExpo, I wrote FanExNO, meaning that I might not go to FanExpo this year.

Shortly before FanExpo last year, I decided to make my wish list. I crossed items out after the con but basically: I got organized.

I got organized with what I want. I generally no longer hit the “Reserve or Regret” thing, in which you pre-order at cost, otherwise you risk the item being rare, marked up, and regretting not getting it when you should of. Case in point, a $240 Power Rangers Megazord which, at retail (in 93) was $50. And a $118 Dragonzord (instead of $40). And a $214 Adam Hughes Wonder Woman (instead of $80). Anyways…the point is that I generally try to avoid that mistake.

Got side tracked. Right now, I’m on the top of my game, and if you see my WTB (Want to Buy) LIST, I only have 4 things on my wish list (way at the bottom) and 3 haven’t come out yet. I’m the type of person that goes to FanExpo and does the dealer rooms more than anything else. Sure, I like the free stuff…I like the exclusives, but there’s nothing I can’t get via eBay. Basically, anything I buy will be impulsive, or not along the lines of the wish list. So while generally I go there for a purpose…to buy things, this time it seems like a money hole.

Wait, I also go to artist alley, I love commissions and prints…I love seeing talented artists. But that’s probably not enough reason for the entry free.

Anyways, I’m still debating. It’s not like I go every year…but last year I went for 3 days (usually I just do one) and I had a lot of fun. And got a lot of stuff. But this year is different.

I’ll think about it more…

Notes
May was a busy month. Bachelor party took me out an entire weekend. Wedding took me out another. Allergy fatigue took me out a day plus made me weak, slow, and lazy for most of the latter half of the month. I spent most of the nights catching up on House…it went brutally slow near the end….but only a few more episodes (less than one season left) and we’ll be caught up to the current eps…despite the season ending recently. Season’s over so no more How I Met Your Mother, no more Smallville, no more Big Bang Theory, no more House. Time to catch up on other stuff.

Made some big progress on my websites, worldofwarren.com and warrenshea.com. warrenshea.com stills needs a rework and a redesign, I’m not happy with my design anymore. Made quite a few major cleanups…took the blog and twitter portion out of WordPress and PHP and now use AJAX requests. Very nice.

Since I got my TV Hub, and since the PS Store was down, my PS3 got almost no use this month. So sad. Gradually learning some web stuff here and there….but overall, not too much accomplished.

What I want to accomplish in June
