Google’s new top black bar

Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 at 7:18 pm

As Google+ has been released, at least in closed beta, I notice they’re generally doing design upgrades to Google products. Good for them…sorta. See, as much as I think Google might be TOO simple…I really hate the new top black bar they have. They have a clean, white, simplistic design…it goes well with theme-less browser colors. But this black bar, it appears between the browser and the page…and it’s just…argh, I hate it.

I’m hoping the backlash causes them to revert back….but if they don’t, I should update my GMAIL theme(s) to follow suit. It’s an easy change, and I want to/could implement it now…..but I’m hoping Google gets smart and changes it back.

Anyways…I was supposed to spend all day working on warrenshea.com…but I haven’t done anything :/ I spent almost an entire hour re-doing my Gmail labels. What can I say, I like to be organized.
Hopefully, I’ll be productive tonight. African Lion Safari tomorrow!

Zelda in 3D – How the 3DS works?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011 at 1:50 am

Wow. I did not think this would work.

To explain: Basically, the way the 3DS works is that you must be a certain distance away from the screen to see the 3D. Also, each of your eyes receive a different sensory input. You’re looking at the same screen, but it’s giving off different lights. Anyways, when you look at the screen, from afar, your eyes immediately go cross eyed to “match” the images. And thus, you get one of those 3D puzzles in which you cross your eyes to solve it.

The images above are an example of this. However, in the image above, you really have to cross your eyes a lot to see the 3D. Obviously your monitor, and my skill, prevent me from doing a better job. But if you cross your eyes on the image above, you should see the 3D.

I will get a better screenshot (or picture). This was just testing the theory out…and I’m a bit surprised, but it works. It’s the fundamental process that allows 3D.

I beat Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the 3DS today. I spent about 5 or 6 days playing the game, just like last time but my play time must have been a lot shorter. It was faster as in the sense that I wasn’t puzzled by the puzzled, the fights were easier, and I wasn’t going after all the Gold Skulltula tokens. I finished the game with 72, not bad w/o and guide. I don’t really think I wanna go back for them, not much point, despite being a completest. I’m more interested in Master Quest, but I promise to take my time with that. Need to focus back on real life again.

I leave you with an interesting read: Ocarina of Time 3D: Development Staff. It’s a 6 part story regarding the development of the game….as a developer, it was quite interesting…..tho I didn’t read it all…maybe tomorrow.

ZOMG IT’S THE RAPTURE !

Just some interesting shots from tonight…

Click the pics for a bigger version.

I really liked the contrast on the clouds in this shot.
Looked a lot better in real life tho…this camera didn’t do justice to it

This was another interesting shot…look at the contrast of clouds/fog, coming in from the right.
It’s like a natural disaster were looming just around to corner…
No photo manipulation here….just pretty interesting :)

Solving the mystery killed her

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011 at 10:31 pm

This picture. I loved it for 10 months.

I ordered an iPhone case of it. I got it today, along with 3 other things: Kotobukiya Marvel Comics: Black Cat Bishoujo Statue, Smashing Magazine Book 1 + Book 2, and 8″ Disney Toy Story 3 Peas in a Pod Bean Bag Plush

The Peas in the Pod are so cute! This plushie, which cost about $20 including shipping, used to go for $50 to 80 to 100 right after Toy Story 3 came out. I almost bought it for $50 but thank goodness I didn’t.

Anyways…this girl…after I solved the mystery, after I found a high res. picture, I no longer care for her. It’s no longer my iPhone background as of earlier today. There was something about the mystery of her. Where she came from. The picture I had was LQ so I couldn’t see the details, it was blurry. Not knowing was part of what made her beautiful. Like I said before, regarding the beauty of the Venus de Milo, part of the beauty is the mystery. What were her arms doing? What did they look like? She’s incomplete…and people can’t figure it out which makes it nag on their minds. They think it’s beauty, they think they’re captivated by it…but it’s really just their subconscious trying to put the puzzle together. Okay, that was an over-exaggeration. Maybe there’s a little beauty.

But anyways…sadly, I’ve lost quite a bit of interest in my used-to-be mystery girl. I have a new crush: this chick.

Mari Makinami

She’s got the glasses. She pilots a giant robot. She…um…I don’t know much else except that she’s a new, awesome character from Evangelion 2.0: You Can [Not] Advance Edit: (which has some stellar animation)(which has the best animation I’ve EVER seen…EVER!). She’s taken over my iPhone wallpaper as of today. I ordered this a few days ago…

I CAN NOT wait for it to come… :D

10 month mystery……SOLVED!

Sunday, April 17th, 2011 at 3:38 pm

In one of my somewhat regular trips of Pacific Mall, I found myself awe-struck walking by a few pictures on the wall of a tattoo shop. I took some pictures of those pics in hopes of finding out where the pictures came from.

I couldn’t find out anything these pictures. Googling descriptive words was less than useless. A few weeks later, I went back to Pacific Mall but the pictures were moved to the inside of the tattoo shop…and I was too intimidated to go and ask them :P

I eventually made the first pic (above) my iPhone background and it’s been that picture for months now. I absolutely love it.

Months and months pass bringing us to now. I went to a computer store yesterday and noticed the 2nd picture (above) on the back of an iPhone case. I originally thought the pictures above were originals, made by the artist in the tattoo shop or something so seeing one of the pictures on an iPhone case was a bit shocking. I purchased the $4 iPhone case, despite that I wouldn’t use it, because I wanted to see if I could do any research on it. Maybe there was a signature on the case, maybe there was SOMETHING. There wasn’t.

But, I was able to google “Tattoo girl iphone case” into Google and come up with a whole mess of iPhone cases with this kind of art. I taxed my online search capabilities to their limit, searching for hours trying to find out more. Eventually, I came across a site (I’m talking about seeing 40 different “buy iphone case” sites before stumbling on to this one) that said “Mithra Tattoo iPhone Case“. Which then, led me to google Mithra and Mithra tattoo…which brought me to here:

Mithra Tattoo Canada

Finally, I had found what I was looking for. HQ Posters, a huge selection of stuff by the artist, “Little White“. I was pretty happy and proud with myself…Mission: Complete!

Anyways, I’m quite pleased with everything, finally finding the artist of a random picture I saw 10 months ago. I finally have a good quality, no reflection picture of the pic I wanted. I’m very tempted to buy some posters, only $17…but don’t really know where I could put them :( Maybe I’ll just buy them for later ;)
