I installed World of Warcraft again….dun dun dunnnn

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 at 1:39 am

Not a lie this time.

I went on Battle.net and downloaded a PC client version of WoW. I installed the 12+ GB files. I logged in with my email, password, and authenticator code. And I played WoW again.

The real story is:
I was checking my GMail spam and noticed a ton of WoW spam like my account had been compromised. Seeing if there was any merit, I went to Battle.net to check. I clicked something that adds a 10-day trial to my account….so I decided to install it on a whim. Free 10 days, why not? (and I know the answer is – “so you don’t get addicted again”). I created a brand new level 1 character and played for 30 minutes. I noticed the improvement in graphics, I (tried) to chat in Thunder Bluff – but they don’t let trial accounts speak. From there, I deleted my character from my trial account and then proceeded to completely delete my WoW client from my machine again. It wasn’t difficult at all this time. Playing for 30 minutes made me realize how…long that game is. Everything takes forever. And I didn’t miss it. Though I still move like I want to, all the keyboard commands are totally engraved in my head.

Anyways….no real pull back to WoW.

It has been about 10 months since I abruptly stopped. I’m doing well… :)

Blogging about Blogging Part 7: Where is this blog/site going?

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 at 10:38 pm

There’s an inherent problem with this blog. I’ve thought about this for a while now but after looking at this guy’s web comic http://bradcolbow.com/, it sparked my interest to write about the issue.

http://bradcolbow.com/

The problem is that warrenshea.com has no direction, no general focus, no point. And thus, no audience (except me, and you). It’s a personal blog.

It bothers me a bit that I have people who view the site, continue to read things, but stop after a day, week, month. Obviously I’m not writing content that interests them. So who am I writing for? Who’s my target audience, other than me?

….I don’t know.

I’m not cut out to write about one thing or topic. Again, I’m a jack of all trades all around, always have been. I have many interests and none of which I want to focus on. I tend not to do up-to-date research on anything, I’m always a bit behind….probably because I focus on so many things. I guess…I’ll leave it a personal blog for now. But I’m not satisfied, I want a site that’s widely and publicly known…

I guess this blog will continue as is until I decide what to dedicate my time to. I have an idea….I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. Stay tuned :)

Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) – I still got it ;)

Sunday, November 7th, 2010 at 9:20 pm

Yesterday, on a whim, I decided to play, and beat Zelda: A Link to the Past (SNES) in 1 sitting. I’d done it before (though when I look back at it, it’s not such a feat as it doesn’t take that long). I didn’t have time yesterday so I dedicated part/most of today to it.

This time around, I timed myself…
I started precisely at 1:00pm today
I played straight until 7:13pm

So it took about 6 hours and 13 minutes. I’m sure I could cut down another 30m-1 hour if I played again right now. I haven’t played this game in at least 6 years but this being one of my childhood games, I know it very well…but not perfectly. I lost some knowledge here and there along the way. I couldn’t remember where 3 heart containers were…3 of 24. I spent quite a bit of time looking for those/trying to remember where those were.

Anyways, I had a lot of fun. Good to know I still got it…never will I know any game as well as my SNES games from my elementary school/teen years. That’s when I had the most time and when I knew my games inside out. At least I was still able to beat this game, in one sitting, without any real problems :) Next on to Zelda: Ocarina of Time!

The Mixed Tape

Jack’s Mannequin – The Mixed Tape

Where are you now?
As I’m swimming through the stereo
I’m writing you a symphony of sound
Where are you now?
As I rearrange the songs again
This mix could burn a hole in anyone
But it was you I was thinking of

I don’t know, something about this song and it’s discussion of a making a mixed tape has reminded me of various songs which I associate with people I’ve liked or have liked me (or both). And I’m wondering “Where are you now?”. I have no idea where the majority of them are or what they’re doing. There are few I keep in touch with, some I have as friends on Facebook but don’t talk to ever…and it’s odd because again, spending/talking to someone, enough that there’s a one-way or two-sided attraction….and then down the road, there’s nothing except a memory. I mean, people change but at some point, there’s a moment in both these people where a romantic relationship exists. Is it that difficult to have and maintain a lifelong romantic relationship with someone? Some people find that connection early, some people find it later, and some never find it at all. But at some point, I hope everyone in their life experiences that potential for a lifelong romantic relationship. The feeling of liking someone and having that feeling reciprocated…is awesome.

Wow, I just started randomly listening to another song…which happens to relate specifically to what I’m writing about….well, the start of the song:

Backstreet Boys – I Still…

Who are you now?
Are you still the same
Or did you change somehow?
What do you do?
At this very moment
When I think of you
And when I’m looking back
How we were young and stupid
Do you remember that?

/remembering the past…and smiling at how young and stupid i used to be…

My nose is a Ninja Turtle

I’ve noticed this since I was a young kid, drawing ninja turtles all the time. It must be fate…
I think the title + image is pretty self-explanatory.

Now you can’t NOT see the ninja turtle in my nose.
